Photography: Exploring the Women at the front of the Egyptian Revolution

I came across this article today, on Art Threat, a website dedicated to political art and cultural policy.

Very cool! Plus, I’m excited to find a website dedicated to POLITICAL ART. I shall be watching it closely…muahahaha!

Photographer Tatiana Philiptchenko has “given western audiences a rare insight into the revolutionary role of women through her new book, Fearless: Egyptian Women of the Revolution. The book consists of interviews with women protestors and close to 50 photos of street activism, street art and daily life.”

I like this article for 3 reasons:

  • It shows strong women doing heroic things
  • It celebrates art
  • It showcases a new book written by an artist woman
